What’s the safest battery for the LeSabre?
The battery in my 2002 Buick LeSabre Limited is located under the rear seat. It is the original Maintenance Free GM AC sealed battery. (The one without inspection caps by which to add distilled water).
Would it be best to replace this battery with another sealed AC battery like the original; or would an ordinary replacement battery be safe for the passengers even though it is located inside the car? The Buick Dealer checked out the original battery a while back and stated it is just fine; but I believe it would be prudent to replace this original battery by next summer anyway. The date of manufacture located on the driver’s door is 01/02, and I purchased this Buick on Feb. 14, 2002.
Ed in Danvers. You will be hard pressed to find an exact-fit battery for this car. I have replaced this battery at my shop, and I always, without wavering at all, will only use an original equipment AC Delco battery. This battery is living in the passenger compartment of this vehicle and any mistake can be deadly. This is not a chance I am willing to take. If the battery still checks good, you don’t have to replace it. But if you do, please go with factory equipment.
I own a 2002 Chrysler Town & Country with a recurring problem that has not been able to be resolved. The main fan for the car’s climate control system has failed numerous times. Every time this has happened I have replaced the resistor module (behind the glove box), which would take care of the problem temporarily. Unfortunately the fan fails again within a few weeks of the module being replaced.
