AV, I give you that interiors in VW are better and Dollar/Euro/Yen deal. But about parts - this is where you are wrong. Not many VW parts are shipped from Europe. Most parts used for VW service are aftermarket parts which could be made in USA/Canada/Mexico/Asia. And even those OEM part, which come with your car are likely to be made in Asia and now Russia. Russia is automakers’s new land. Almost all brands now have manufacturing facility there because Russia also has any resource you need.

Want a cool used car? With the second-generation Audi TT now on sale, first-generation machines are rapidly finding their way onto dealer lots as trade-ins. Audi put attention to radical styling on the map with the first-generation TT- which competed with the likes of the Nissan 350Z, Mercedes-Benz SLK, Honda S2000, BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxter. None of these managed look quite as unique as the Audi. It tends to be considered gorgeous- though some say it’s akin to an overturned bathtub.

I never liked the car, though I have to admit I am not the type of person who gets very attached to cars in the first place. Not one who likes to give into stereotyping, I have my suspicions that car adoration might be a gender thing. My son loves cars. Read: Anything over $500,000 with a racing engine. And my father loved cars. Read: Brand-new cars. At any given point, he owned at least five cars, sometimes seven, which, given the size of our family, was a strategic move as well as a hobby.

The Jetta TDI, the 1 series are both super good, but do you really want to finance all that depreciation? Dumb. #1 cost of a new car? see above. Speed3 is ridiculously good, but fuel economy suffers relative to the regular Mazda3, and you can’t used that power very often. I bought a used 2005 Mazda3 hatch for $13,750 four months ago. Fanstastic. What the Focus of 2008 should have been (structure, not body style, but that too).

Others are dealing with legal fallout. NovaStar Financial settled a class-action suit in Washington state on June 27, paying $5 million to some 1,600 borrowers who contended that NovaStar hid loan fees. Locally, $14.23 million in NovaStar loans failed between Jan. 1 and July 1. Half defaulted within seven months of being written. In March, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

THE SHOW S PROBLEM ISN T in the source material. BBC success Blackpool (which was shown stateside on BBC America as Viva Blackpool ) used the same device, but went whole hog with its production numbers, making sure the audience knew it was a musical. In the American version, executive produced by Jackman, it seems like creators are delicately hoping to fold the musical moments into the action. Afraid to make the numbers outr enough, the show stumbles in trying to come off as naturalistic.
