Former Classic Chevrolet site could be redeveloped

Plans past Planning Commission, on to City Council. By ERIC WELCH The Planning Commission approved a request to develop the former Classic Chevrolet used-car dealership site on Eastpark Drive in SAVI Ranch with a 4-1 vote on Wednesday. Commissioner Mark Abramowitz was in opposition. The redevelopment plans include two buildings: a showroom that is more 28,000 square feet and a two-story office building with more than 17,000 square feet of space.

Quirk closes the deal for Dobles Chevrolet

MANCHESTER Quirk Auto Dealerships has closed its deal to acquire Dobles Chevrolet-Buick-Hummer on South Willow Street. Daniel Quirk, owner of the Braintree, Mass.-based auto dealer, said the deal was completed with Dobles owner Eva Montembeault on Tuesday. Financial terms were not disclosed. ‘57 Chevys leave owners wonderstruck, ex-owners wistful

As Joe Geer’s father lay dying, he turned to his son with one final piece of advice. RANDY ELI GROTHE/DMN Mary and Norman Frye of Rowlett have given their ‘57 Chevy a name Blue and Bluer. Mrs. Frye, who won’t drive the car, says the name comes from its color, which she calls a combination of larkspur blue and marine blue. Sell the ‘57, Glynn Geer said. It was 1989, and Joe had owned his raggedy 1957 Chevy hardtop for 13 years, since he was a 15-year-old kid in Mesquite.

New autos are lingering on the lot

After putting off buying a new car for a year, Jean and Don Fowler decided to use a cash “windfall” from Don’s job to buy the vehicle they wanted: a Chevrolet Avalanche. They visited three dealerships to see the 2007 vehicles in stock and found the right truck at the right price at Bradenton’s Cox Chevrolet.
