Stolen Jeep Catches Suspect

A computer theft Thursday afternoon turns into a police chase. But it’s not too often that police end a chase with a smile on their face. “I was sitting at my desk and it looked like something out of the movies,” says a witness. Police say the villain of this movie is a would-be car thief. The setting is a used car lot in Dauphin County. The hero was played by a Jeep owned by a Swatara Township police officer, stolen last night.

Jeep Stops Thief

A suspected Jeep thief is behind bars after a police chase on Thursday. Police say 40-year-old Keith Young of Harrisburg stole a Jeep belonging to a local police officer. When cops spotted the vehicle Thursday afternoon they chased the driver onto a used car lot in Swatara Township, Dauphin County. Investigators say, when the suspect jumped out of the car, he left the vehicle in gear. The Jeep rolled forward, pinning the suspect long enough for police to arrest him.

Maryland Daily Record

The United Auto Workers union and Chrysler LLC said Wednesday evening that a tentative four-year contract agreement had been reached, ending a daylong strike that sent about 34,000 workers to the picket lines. UAW President Ron Gettelfinger had sought a Chrysler contract patterned after a similar agreement reached with General Motors Corp. which was ratified Wednesday. This was the first contract negotiated between the union and Chrysler’s new owners, Cerberus Capital Management.
