Elder believes strongly in giving back to the community, and her affiliations and charitable support reflect that. Currently, she serves on the Board of Trustees for the College for Creative Studies, Oakland Family Services, Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Economic Club of Detroit Board of Directors. Most notably, President George W. Bush appointed her to the Commission on White House Fellowships.
In addition, she supports The Detroit Institute for Children, LaSed, Angel’s Place, The Children’s Center, Alzheimer’s Association and the Josephine Ford Cancer Center and many others.
