Stolen Jeep Catches Suspect
A computer theft Thursday afternoon turns into a police chase. But it’s not too often that police end a chase with a smile on their face. “I was sitting at my desk and it looked like something out of the movies,” says a witness. Police say the villain of this movie is a would-be car thief. The setting is a used car lot in Dauphin County. The hero was played by a Jeep owned by a Swatara Township police officer, stolen last night.
According to police the stolen jeep was spotted this afternoon. Officers chased the driver into the lot. “When the suspect jumped out of the car, he left the vehicle in gear. It continued to roll forward, pinning the suspect and apprehension on its own,” says Detective Sergeant Michael Farling, Swatara Township Police, proving you don’t have to carry a badge to know right from wrong. “Sometimes criminals don’t do the smartest things,” says Farling.
The suspect was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but police don’t think he was injured too badly. His next stop will be Dauphin County Prison where he faces numerous charges.
