However, unfortunately, I must disagree with Mr. Biffoni’s conclusion that the “total cost was zero.” I certainly agree that the cost of the various procedures was zero to Mr. Biffoni; however, there was truly a cost and it was to the Italian health care system. Probably up to a million lira or some other big number. Now, we all must remember this, “there is no free lunch”. Everything generally costs somebody or an organization something. Even socialized medicine has a cost and it must be paid.

So, Mr. Biffoni, I am glad you had a good trip and that you received appropriate medical care.
